Khaberni - Officials in the Pakistan Railway Authority reported today, Wednesday, that the Tezgam Express train derailed late at night in the eastern Punjab region of the country, resulting in injuries to passengers and significantly disrupting train traffic as several carriages overturned and train traffic was halted for hours.
The news channel "Geo News" reported that officials said the accident occurred near the region of Adam Wah which is close to Lodhran, after a coupling broke, leading to the train being split in half and at least 4 carriages, including a dining car, going off the tracks.
Panic inside the carriages
The accident caused a state of panic inside the crowded carriages, where terrified passengers scrambled to save themselves and their loved ones in the dark.
Officials say the accident resulted in 25 passengers being injured, of whom 17 received first aid and left the hospital, while the other eight, whose conditions were described as critical, were taken to the hospital, according to the local official in Lodhran, Mohammad Ashraf.
