Khaberni - The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday that the State Security Agency successfully thwarted a terrorist plot and arrested a network consisting of (5) Kuwaitis and a non-Kuwaiti whose citizenship had been revoked, and identified (14) suspects outside the country: (5) citizens, and (5) non-Kuwaitis whose citizenships had been revoked, and (two) of Iranian nationality, and (two) of Lebanese nationality.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior stated in a statement that "their affiliation with the banned Hezbollah organization was confirmed, where the network was planning to carry out assassination operations targeting state symbols and leaders, and recruiting individuals to carry out these tasks."
It was noted that the suspects "confessed to espionage and joining the terrorist organization, and their readiness to carry out the tasks assigned to them targeting the assassination of state symbols and leaders and harming the supreme interests of the country, and that they had received advanced military training outside the country by elements and leaders of the terrorist organization, which included the use of weapons and explosives, surveillance methods, in addition to assassination skills, in a form that embodies a serious betrayal of the homeland and a clear departure from the requirements of loyalty and belonging."
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior indicated that "the suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecutor to take the necessary legal actions against them, while the security agencies continue to complete their investigations to pursue anyone proven to be linked or cooperating with this cell or any other terrorist organizations."
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior confirmed that "the security of the State of Kuwait, its sovereignty, and its national stability are a firm line that does not accept compromise or leniency, emphasizing that what this cell embarked on is considered an extremely dangerous criminal act and constitutes a great betrayal of the homeland, involving a direct targeting of the security of Kuwait and its symbols and leaders and attempts to undermine its stability, and the security forces are on the alert to confront anyone who dares to compromise the security of the country or cooperate with terrorist organizations, with the most severe legal measures taken against anyone proven to be involved without leniency or exception."
