Revolution in Siri Apple tests an assistant with an enhanced version

Khaberni - Bloomberg agency revealed that Apple is testing a wide range of changes to its voice assistant "Siri," including launching a separate application for the first time, in addition to a new button that operates across the system, as part of a strategy to rebuild its AI capabilities with the upcoming iOS 27 and macOS 27 updates.

According to the agency's report, it is expected that the company will unveil the new version of its personal assistant during the WWDC 2026 global developer conference on June 8; as Apple aims to transform "Siri" from a traditional voice assistant to a comprehensive AI agent operating at the system level.

Comprehensive update
Apple is working on a comprehensive redesign of "Siri," with a user experience closer to chat applications, allowing users to communicate via text and voice simultaneously. This shift marks a clear leap compared to the current version, which lacks advanced dialogical interaction, according to "Bloomberg."

The project, codenamed "Campo," aims to enable "Siri" to execute tasks within applications, and access user data such as messages, notes, and emails to provide more accurate and contextually relevant responses.

Apple plans to replace the current search system known as Spotlight with a unified interface based on "Siri," combining device-internal searches and general internet queries in one place.

The new interface will support presenting content summaries, main points, and images, as well as summarizing daily news using content from Apple's News service, Apple News, in a move aimed at competing against tools like Google's Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.

Moreover, Apple is testing the possibility of integrating "Siri" into the "Dynamic Island" interactive notch at the top of the screen on some of its devices, with quick search options, along with interactive indicators during processing requests, before displaying the results in a transparent window using the new "Liquid Glass" design in Apple's systems.

However, "Bloomberg" states that the final form may change as internal testing continues.

Competing with AI tools
Apple is testing a standalone app for the assistant "Siri" on iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices, allowing users to access and manage their previous conversations in a unified interface.

The app will display conversation history in a list or grid, with the ability to pin important conversations, search within them, and create new conversations. It also supports uploading files and photos for analysis, with switching between voice and text modes, features that have become common in modern AI applications.

Ask Siri Button
Apple is also testing a new button named "Ask Siri" that appears within applications, allowing the sending of any specified content directly to "Siri" for additional information or to perform related tasks.

Apple is adding a "Write with Siri" option within the keyboard to enable users to create or edit texts using AI tools more quickly.

Collaboration with Google
The new features of "Siri" faced several delays since their initial announcement in 2024; projections indicate that some capabilities, such as understanding user context and deep data access, will not be ready until autumn 2026.

Many of these improvements rely on Apple's internal models, in addition to a partnership with Google to use its own models known as Gemini, in a deal valued at approximately one billion dollars.

Apple's plan to develop Siri reveals a clear shift in its strategy, which previously reserved offering an experience based on direct chat. However, it now finds itself compelled to keep pace with the rapid spread of applications like ChatGPT and Gemini.

The new version of “Siri” is expected to be a central focus in Apple’s AI vision for the upcoming phase, with greater emphasis on deep integration and unified user experience across all its devices.
