Representative Tahboub to the Government Focus on the whales of the corrupt just as on the chicks there is no leniency with pu

Khaberni - Representative Dima Tahboub called on the House of Representatives to set a clear timetable for monitoring the government's correction of offenses listed in the Audit Bureau report and to convene a session to discuss the results before the release of the new report, emphasizing that the discussion on the report should not be an annual procedural act, but a fundamental part of the council's supervisory role in protecting public funds.

Tahboub said during a discussion of the Audit Bureau report that the collection and recovery rate of public money does not exceed 4.4%, considering this percentage a dangerous indicator of the weakness of money recovery processes, emphasizing that public money is "not worthless," and that true oversight is only complete with its recovery and the accountability of those responsible for violations.

She added that the report of the financial committee, despite containing organization of supervision outputs, classification of violations, and highlighting discrepancies in the implementation of capital projects, is closer to summarizing than to demanding accountability, pointing out the absence of a timeline that defines mechanisms for dealing with violations and allows the council to monitor their implementation throughout the year.

She pointed out that the response rate to observations in the Social Security Investment Fund does not exceed 57%, which she described as a dangerous indicator, since the fund manages tens of billions of dinars of Jordanian people's money, considering that non-compliance with supervisory recommendations reflects a performance flaw.

Tahboub emphasized the necessity for the House of Representatives to follow up on its decisions before the issuance of the new report, so that violations are not repeated annually, insisting that protecting public funds is not only achieved by monitoring violations but also by holding offenders accountable and recovering the funds.

She urged the financial committee to complete its efforts by establishing specific procedures and a scheduled timeline that the council can vote on and monitor their implementation, warning that the absence of these steps will render the reports "ink on paper."

She also sent a message to the Audit Bureau, urging them to focus on major corruption cases, projects, and transgressions, emphasizing the importance of not merely holding minor violators accountable, and stating that "there is no leniency in public money."
