Khaberni - The artist Ahmed El Fishawy and the creators of his new film "The Serial Killer of El Tagamoa" scarcely had time to enjoy the recommendation by the Censorship Committee on Artistic Works to screen the film after ensuring that the production company had implemented all the observations on the film, before they were surprised by a new problem with the film just hours before its premiere.
The author Mohamed Sayed Besheer announced via his personal Facebook account about a leaked copy of the film, which was shown during the first days of Eid al-Fitr, before a decision was made to withdraw it from cinemas.
Mohamed Sayed Besheer posted, stating: "Guys, the film 'The Serial Killer of El Tagamoa' was released in a cinema-shot pirated version, how could this happen when it barely showed and got pulled?"
Statement Permitting the Screening of "The Serial Killer of El Tagamoa"
Egyptian Minister of Culture Dr. Jihan Zaki issued an official statement announcing the re-screening of the film in cinemas by ministerial decision, after the deletion of scenes that conflict with societal values.
The Supreme Appeals Committee, formed by Dr. Jihan Zaki, Minister of Culture, met to discuss the appeal submitted by producer Ahmed El Sobki regarding the film "The Serial Killer of El Tagamoa". The committee viewed the film and reviewed it from all artistic and substantive aspects, and decided to delete a number of scenes that led to the ban decision, recommending the film be released in cinemas after deleting the mentioned scenes, and raised the viewing age to 18 years.
The Minister of Culture affirmed in her statement her full support for the Egyptian film industry, and emphasized the importance of cinema in spreading social awareness and adhering to human values.
