Khaberni - Samsung surprised everyone with major upgrades in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 foldable last year, which makes it unexpected to introduce significant improvements to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 this year.
However, new leaks have revealed that Samsung seems to be making an unexpected change in the Galaxy Z Fold 8; namely, a thicker design.
The first leaked image of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 design shows a device not radically different from the Z Fold 7, but thicker, according to a report by "Android Headlines" tech news website, which was reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".
According to the leaks published on Tuesday, the dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 when folded are 158.4 × 72.8 × 9 mm, and when unfolded 158.4 × 143.2 × 4.5 mm.
This means a slight increase of 0.1 mm in thickness when the device is closed, while the increase reaches 0.3 mm when using the large screen.
These figures show that the height and width of Fold 8 will not change at all from the current generation of this model, and perhaps this is due to Samsung's effort to release another wider foldable model for those looking for an updated design.
It seems that the reason behind this increase in thickness of Z Fold 8 is due to the use of a 5,000 milliampere battery, which will be the first of its kind in Samsung's foldable phones.
This is a significant leap compared to the current generation's 4400 milliampere battery, which this series has relied on since the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in 2021.
This increase in capacity has been long-awaited, but it is supposed to contribute to solving one of the most noticeable recent issues related to the Z Fold series.
As expected from these dimensions, there are no radical changes to the overall user experience in Z Fold 8, and it appears that the phone's screens will not change, and Samsung will not return to the design of the camera embedded under the screen.
It seems that the ultra-wide camera sensor will get an upgrade to 50 megapixels, while the rest of the cameras are from the previous generation.
Predictions indicate that Samsung hopes to maintain the Z Fold 8's price like the current generation at $2,000, and the phone is expected to reach consumers later this summer.
