Khaberni - Tafila Grand Municipality announced the closure of Al-Mansoura (Al-Sayl) road to traffic until further notice, to preserve the safety of the citizens from Al-Mansoura and 'Ayma areas, due to the road being subjected to landslides and floods in the past few days.
The mayor, Dr. Muhammad Al-Karimyyin, confirmed that the municipal staff and machinery started to close the road as a precaution, after rainwater flowed onto parts of it and it was subjected to landslides and accumulation of stones, gravel, and debris, which poses a risk to vehicles and increases the likelihood of slipping.
He pointed out that the municipality has equipped an operations room that operates around the clock to receive complaints and notes from citizens, and provided the necessary machinery and equipment to deal with any potential road closures due to snow accumulation or soil and rock collapses, explaining that among its tasks is to open internal roads between neighborhoods, residential blocks, and schools in cooperation with the relevant official entities.
He explained that the municipal staff completed remediation works in a number of vital hotspots affected by the recent rainfalls, and the resultant landslides, accumulation of debris and soil, and the emergence of water pools on some roads, including the critical turn at Hasadah in Wadi Zaid area.
