Khaberni - The head of the Greater Irbid Municipality Committee, Imad Al-Azzam, confirmed the readiness of the municipality's staff to deal with the expected weather depression on Wednesday, pointing out that the municipality has put together a comprehensive emergency plan to ensure the continuity of services and maintain public safety.
Al-Azzam said that the municipality's operations rooms are working around the clock, with the level of readiness being elevated to the maximum in various departments and sections concerned, especially the directorates of execution, maintenance, engineering works, environment, and agriculture, with the aim of monitoring any field developments and dealing with them immediately.
He added that the municipality has prepared the necessary machinery and equipment, including water suction tankers and heavy machinery, to deal with water accumulations and possible landslides, and has distributed field teams in various areas of jurisdiction, particularly in locations that typically experience water accumulations.
He explained that the municipality is coordinating with relevant entities, including security agencies and civil defense, to ensure a swift response to any emergencies and to enhance public safety measures across different areas of the city.
Al-Azzam called on citizens to exercise caution and stay away from streambeds and low-lying areas, to avoid disposing of waste in the streets or inside drainage culverts, as this can obstruct water flow and exacerbate the problem. He also urged reporting any observations or emergencies through the municipality's official communication channels, affirming that the emergency teams will respond to reports as quickly as possible, ensuring public safety.
