Stopping Petra visits at 2 PM Wednesday due to weather conditions

Khaberni - The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority has decided to close the Petra Archaeological Preserve at two in the afternoon on Wednesday, as a precautionary measure due to the expected weather conditions, with the last ticket selling time for entering the archaeological site being one o’clock in the afternoon.

The Commissioner of the Archaeological Preserve and Tourism at the Authority, Yazan Al-Muhaddeen, confirmed that Wednesday's visit will be limited to the main trail only until two in the afternoon, while a number of trails will be closed, these are: Khabtha, Al-Madras, Nabi Harun’s high place, and the back trail.

Al-Muhaddeen said that this step comes as a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of visitors in light of the expected weather conditions.

He added that the Archaeological Preserve and the Petra Region Authority in general have completed all the readiness to deal with the effects of the weather conditions in the coming days, as all teams and necessary requirements have been prepared accordingly.
