To facilitate communication WhatsApp is testing the automatic translation feature of messages on iOS

Khaberni - WhatsApp is working on developing a new feature that will facilitate communication between users of different languages, through the automatic translation of messages within iOS conversations.

This feature is still in development and has not yet been released to users, but it has appeared in the beta version of the app.

Qualitative Leap
The feature that the WhatsApp team is testing represents a qualitative leap in how to understand text messages received in a foreign language.

According to the information that appeared in the beta version, the user will be able to choose the translation language into which the messages should be converted, and then WhatsApp will automatically translate the texts upon receipt.

This means that there is no need to press each message separately to translate it, as is the case with the current feature, but the whole process will be performed automatically.

This new feature relies on processing messages locally inside the device, rather than sending them to external servers, in order to maintain complete privacy for users in accordance with end-to-end encryption that WhatsApp provides for your messages.

Supports 21 languages
Initially, WhatsApp will support translation between 21 different languages on iPhone, a group of languages users can download as language packs on their devices, and these packs enable the feature to work even without an internet connection, and the user can update them or add new languages as they choose.

Once the feature is activated in a particular conversation, a translated text will automatically appear below the original message, while retaining the ability to see the original text when needed. In the case of group chats, automatic translation will only work if all messages received from participants are written in a single supported language at the same time.

Breaking the Barriers
This feature aligns with WhatsApp's ongoing efforts to improve communication among users around the world, especially as the app is used by more than 3 billion users who speak various languages.

Through automatic translation, WhatsApp aims to break language barriers, making both group and individual chats more fluid without the need for external tools or copying and pasting texts into translation apps.

It should be noted that so far, there are no official details from WhatsApp about the launch date of the feature for general users, but its appearance in the beta version is a strong indicator of its imminent launch in future updates for the iOS app.

It is expected that language support will be expanded and automatic translation will be enabled in groups and channels within the app in later versions.
