ElMasry Increases Municipal Readiness to Deal with the Expected Weather Depression

Khaberni -  The Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Walid El-Masry, met with the heads of municipal committees and joint services councils from all regions of the kingdom; to follow up on the field readiness to deal with the unstable weather conditions and the severe weather depression expected to affect them on Wednesday and Thursday. 
El-Masry confirmed during the meetings held today, Tuesday, and yesterday, Monday, the adoption of the early warning system as a reference for proactive decisions regarding the expected weather situation in each municipality, pointing out the need to raise the level of joint coordination between the municipalities and service councils, and operations rooms, and to continuously review the system’s precise data; to ensure the protection of lives and property. 
He pointed to the necessity of monitoring "hotspots," intensifying efforts in areas that experience high levels of danger, especially in the southern governorates, and taking immediate action, in coordination with the administrative rulers, to evacuate the valleys' perimeters from livestock owners and tents in areas prone to floods. 
He clarified that the upcoming weather situation requires the collaboration of all efforts, and the operations rooms to operate around the clock, in coordination with Civil Defense and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. 
The heads of the committees and councils were briefed on the operation mechanism of the electronic early warning system, the implications of the associated risk levels, how to make the right decision, and the field crews' response to each level according to the geographical area, in addition to proactive measures to prevent injuries from floods. They also reviewed the system's technical aspects, the methods of accessing and using it, and following real-time updates, enabling municipalities to determine the degree of risk and take appropriate action in a timely manner. 
The meetings included extensive discussions, during which the heads of municipal committees and service councils raised inquiries and observations about the nature of the weather situation in their respective areas, and mechanisms for preventing potential risks, based on the information and data provided by the early warning system.
