Jordanians lose public holidays 3 upcoming events fall on Friday

Khaberni - The joy of some was diminished this year due to the short duration of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which coincided with the first day being on Friday, which is considered a weekend in Jordan.

It seems that this diminished joy will continue, as Jordanians will be deprived of 3 public holidays due to them falling on Friday.

According to Khaberni, Friday will coincide with the first of May (1/5/2026), which is Labor Day.

Friday will also mark the 25th of December (25/12/2026), which is the Christmas holiday, and the first of January (1/1/2027), which is New Year's Day.

What about the rest of the holidays?

Astronomically, it is expected that Tuesday, May 26, 2026, will be the Day of Arafah, marking the start of the Eid al-Adha holiday from Tuesday, May 26 until the evening of Saturday, May 30, 2026.

This holiday will follow Independence Day, which falls on May 25, meaning the holiday could extend to 6 days, from Monday morning until Saturday evening.

Also astronomically, it is likely that Tuesday, June 16, will be a holiday on the occasion of the Islamic New Year.
