Samsung retreats from S Pen revolution in upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra

Khaberni - The S Pen from "Samsung" has long been a standout feature in its "Ultra" model phones for years, but recent versions have seen the removal of some of its advanced features, transforming it from an interactive stylus into a basic writing tool.

Earlier this year, reports indicated that "Samsung" plans to move to a new technology for future S Pens, which might restore some of those capabilities, but a new report suggests that it may not return with the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra next year.

According to the Korean online newspaper "ETNews", Samsung tested a new stylus system for the Galaxy S27 Ultra but ultimately decided not to use it, according to a report by "Digital Trends".

The company explored alternatives for its long-standing electromagnetic resonance system, which requires a digital conversion layer inside the screen.

The alternative involves a system based on active electrostatic charging, which eliminates the need for a digital layer and shifts power requirements to the pen itself. This means adding a battery to the S Pen, making it thicker.

The report states that "Samsung" developed a hybrid solution that combines the best features of both systems while eliminating the need for both the battery and the digital conversion layer. However, it seems that this new technology has been delayed, and the report did not clarify the reason for this.

Accordingly, it is expected that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will come with the current setup of the S Pen, focusing on reliability rather than new technology and advanced features.

This decision indicates that "Samsung" is not ready to accelerate major changes in one of the most famous features of its flagship phones. The S Pen is still deeply integrated into "Ultra" phones, and any retreat in usability might risk alienating long-time loyal users.
