Important Health Warning for Everyone Who Drinks Coffee Right After Waking Up

Khaberni - Health experts recommend reconsidering the timing of morning coffee consumption, as the way you start the day can directly affect energy levels and hormonal balance in humans.
Regina Shams Natiry, a pharmacist at "Rozway" laboratories, explained that consuming coffee immediately upon waking, without drinking water first, may increase the dehydration that occurs during sleep hours, which negatively reflects on its vital functions.

She pointed out that the cortisol hormone, responsible for alertness, peaks about 30 to 60 minutes after waking up. Therefore, supplying the body with caffeine before this hormone performs its natural role may disrupt physiological balance.

She added that caffeine generally affects hormones, making the timing of its consumption an important factor to benefit from it without undesirable side effects. She clarified that the most suitable time to drink coffee is after 60 to 90 minutes from waking up, when the adrenal gland has relatively stabilized, helping the body respond to caffeine more effectively.
In a related context, Regina warned of some common morning habits thought to be healthy but may negatively affect the body. For example, consuming a breakfast rich in sugars and poor in protein can lead to fluctuations in blood sugar levels and decreased energy level later. Also, taking a cold shower may stimulate the secretion of adrenaline hormone, which may cause long-term energy depletion, especially in cold weather.

She also mentioned that exercising on an empty stomach could lead to lower glucose and glycogen levels, increasing the feeling of fatigue instead of activity. Furthermore, checking email early in the morning can suddenly raise dopamine levels, which may later reflect as mental exhaustion.

To start your day more balanced, Regina advises starting with drinking water first to hydrate the body, with reduced use of screens in the first hour after waking up, and exposure to natural morning light by walking or sitting in an open area, to support the biological clock.

She also emphasized the importance of medical tests before consuming dietary supplements, explaining that elements such as vitamin B12, iron, and magnesium might be beneficial, but their effectiveness depends on the actual need of the body according to test results. She added that magnesium is generally more suitable for use in the evening instead of relying on it as an energy source in the morning.
