London Summons Iranian Ambassador

Khaberni - The British Foreign Ministry, today Monday, summoned the Iranian Ambassador to London, Sayed Ali Mousavi, following the charges against two individuals suspected of providing assistance to the Iranian intelligence services.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated that this summons "comes after recently charging two individuals, one of whom is an Iranian national and the other holds both British and Iranian citizenship, under national security law, on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence agency."

He confirmed that the British government "will take all necessary measures to protect the British people, including exposing Iran's reckless and destabilizing activities domestically and abroad."

Last year, a charge of involvement in communications that could aid a foreign intelligence agency was directed at Nematollah Shahsavani (40 years old), a British-Iranian citizen, and Ali Reza Ferasati (22 years old), an Iranian citizen.

Last week, the Attorney General Louise Attridge told the court that the two men "are suspected of assisting the Iranian intelligence services by conducting hostile surveillance of sites and individuals associated with the Israeli and Jewish communities."

Attempted Infiltration of a Nuclear Base

In a separate incident, the British police arrested an Iranian man and a Romanian woman last Thursday. On Saturday, the police announced that the accused were charged with attempting to infiltrate "Faslane" base in Scotland, which houses the UK's "Trident" nuclear deterrent system.

This comes amid British concerns that the country might be targeted due to its role in the American-Israeli war on Iran, especially after London allowed American forces to use its bases for certain operations against Iran, which the British government claims are "purely defensive" operations.

On March 20, the UK allowed the United States to use its military bases to launch strikes on "Iranian missile sites targeting ships in the Strait of Hormuz."

A statement from the office of the UK Prime Minister clarified that British ministers, during a meeting to discuss the American-Israeli-Iranian war and Tehran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, confirmed that the agreement allowing the US to use British bases covers American defensive operations to destroy missile sites and capabilities used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Bombardment of Diego Garcia Base

Last Saturday, the Mehr news agency reported that Iran had launched two ballistic missiles towards the British base Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

Diego Garcia base, located in the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean, is one of two bases Britain allowed the United States to use in offensive operations against Iran. The US has deployed bombers and other hardware at the base, which is a major operational hub in Asia, including for operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

According to what the Wall Street Journal reported from U.S. officials, Iran launched two medium-range ballistic missiles at the joint military base between the United States and Britain, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The newspaper did not specify the date of the missile launch on Diego Garcia, located 4,000 kilometers from Iranian territory, noting that neither missile hit its target.

Since February 28, Israel and the United States have been conducting attacks on Iran, resulting in the deaths of hundreds, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and security officials, while Tehran has responded by launching missiles and drones towards Israel.

Iran also targets what it claims to be American sites and interests in Arab countries, although some of these attacks have resulted in casualties and injuries, and inflicted damage on civilian facilities, which was condemned by the targeted countries.
