Netanyahu Trump sees an opportunity for a deal with Iran and Tehran denies any negotiations

Khaberni - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that he had spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump, who believes there is an opportunity to reach a deal with Iran.

Netanyahu added in a video statement published by his office, "Trump believes it is possible to benefit from the significant achievements made by the Israeli Defense Forces and the U.S. Army... and achieve the objectives of the war through a deal that preserves our vital interests."

U.S. Vice President JD Vance spoke on the phone with Netanyahu on Monday morning, discussing efforts to start negotiations with Iran, according to the "Axios" website citing a knowledgeable source.

The source said that Vance and Netanyahu discussed the terms of a potential agreement to end the war with Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran has "one last chance to end its threats to the United States," while confirming that ongoing talks with Tehran are "very good" and carry positive indications towards reaching an agreement.

Trump clarified in press statements that the discussions with the Iranian side began on Saturday evening, noting that there is "a very big chance to reach an agreement," and that Iran "wants peace," adding that it was agreed that Iran "will not possess a nuclear weapon."

He mentioned that the United States "is now having very good discussions with Iran," affirming that these developments could make "the world safer soon."

Trump added that he would give the current pathway "five days," referring to a time frame to monitor the outcomes of the discussions, which he described as positive, expressing optimism about the possibility of reaching a settlement soon.

Conversely, Iran denied conducting any talks with the United States, confirming that what is happening does not exceed regional initiatives to reduce tension. Tehran considered that Trump's statements are part of an attempt to reduce energy prices and gain time for implementing military plans, amidst escalating tensions related to the Strait of Hormuz.

The "Tasnim" agency reported an Iranian official saying that the Strait of Hormuz "will not return to its pre-war status" and that energy markets will remain volatile, emphasizing the absence of ongoing negotiations with Washington, and confirming that Iran will continue to defend itself until it achieves deterrence.
