Khaberni - US Vice President JD Vance spoke over the phone on Monday morning with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, discussing the efforts to initiate negotiations with Iran, according to what the site "Axios" reported from an informed source.
The source said that Vance and Netanyahu discussed the terms of a potential agreement to end the war with Iran.
US President Donald Trump said that Iran has a "last chance to end its threats to the United States," while confirming that the ongoing talks with Tehran are "very good" and carry positive indicators towards reaching an agreement.
Trump clarified in press statements that discussions with the Iranian side began on Saturday evening, pointing out that there is a "very big chance of reaching an agreement", and that Iran "wants peace", adding that it was agreed that it "will not possess a nuclear weapon".
He noted that the United States is "now having very good discussions with Iran", affirming that these developments could make "the world safer soon".
Trump added that he will give the current track "five days", referring to a timeframe to monitor the outcome of the talks, which he described as progressing positively, expressing optimism about the possibility of reaching a settlement soon.
In contrast, Iran denied conducting any talks with the United States, confirming that what is happening does not exceed regional initiatives to reduce tension. Tehran considered Trump's statements as part of an attempt to lower energy prices and buy time to execute military plans, amid escalating tensions related to the Strait of Hormuz.
The "Tasnim" agency quoted an Iranian official as saying that the Strait of Hormuz "will not return to its pre-war state", and that energy markets will remain troubled, emphasizing that there are no ongoing negotiations with Washington, confirming that Iran will continue to defend itself until deterrence is achieved.
