Khaberni - The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority announced the extension of the airspace closure to all incoming, outgoing, and transit flights for 72 hours.
The authority clarified in a statement today, Sunday, that the decision is effective from Sunday noon until Wednesday noon next week, as a temporary precautionary measure, based on continuous assessment of the security situation and regional developments, with a review to be considered as new information arises, according to the Iraqi News Agency "INA".
The authority affirmed that airlines and relevant entities will be notified of any future updates.
It is noted that the Iraqi airspace closure procedures began at the start of this month, as a temporary precautionary measure due to escalating security and regional tensions in the area.
Earlier today, the official Iranian news agency "IRNA" announced that a drone attack targeted a military base near Baghdad International Airport.
