Khaberni - A report from an American institution reveals that the war launched by President Donald Trump's administration against Iran has cost the American treasury tens of billions of dollars within a few weeks.
According to the report published on (thefulcrum.us), the cost of military operations in Iran until mid-March amounts to about 25 to 30 billion dollars, and is expected to reach 200 billion dollars if spending continues at the same rate for 6 months.
The report explains that the money spent on the war was enough to expand healthcare programs, restore cut funding for healthcare, and support food security through the SNAP program, in addition to funding education, clean energy, and infrastructure.
It also noted that high military spending contributed to an exacerbation of the American federal debt, which reached 37.2 trillion dollars, with expectations to rise to 47 trillion dollars by 2030, increasing the paid interest and putting pressure on the general budget.
The report added that the rise in oil and gas prices as a result of the war led to an increase in the cost of living, with the average price of gasoline exceeding 3.84 dollars per gallon, while oil producers in Arab countries and Russia benefited from this crisis.
The institution warned that continuing to direct massive resources to foreign wars instead of investing in domestic needs such as healthcare, education, clean energy, and infrastructure, will increase the economic gap and weaken the future of the United States in the long term.
