Khaberni - The Gulf Cooperation Council has renewed its condemnation and strong denunciation of the continuing Iranian attacks on the council's member states.
In a statement, it was confirmed that these attacks deliberately target infrastructure and oil facilities, in a blatant violation of international law and norms, and pose a direct threat to the security and stability of the region, in addition to their serious impact on the safety of global energy supplies.
The Council stressed that these attacks represent an unacceptable escalation, and reveal a continuous Iranian approach aimed at destabilizing regional stability and undermining efforts for a de-escalation.
Clear Gulf Condemnation
Jassim Mohammed Al-Badiwi, the Secretary-General of the Council, stated that the continuation of these attacks clearly reveals the escalatory approach of the Iranian government towards the council's member states, describing these actions as “unacceptable aggressive acts” that undermine efforts to reduce tension, and threaten both regional and international security.
He also emphasized that the Iranian allegations trying to blame the Gulf Cooperation Council for any military operations are “false and utterly rejected” claims, not based on any truth, and are attempts to distort facts and justify escalation.
Right of Response
The statement also noted that the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council adopt firm policies based on respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, and on working to enhance security and peace at both regional and international levels.
In this context, it was reaffirmed that the council's states fully reserve their right, guaranteed under Article (51) of the United Nations Charter and international law provisions, to take necessary measures and actions to protect their security and stability, safeguard their assets and wealth, and respond to these attacks proportional to the threat level.
Call for Decisive International Action
The Gulf Cooperation Council called upon the international community to bear its responsibilities towards these developments, through condemning the Iranian attacks and adopting a firm and deterring stance, contributing to halting this escalatory approach.
It also demanded urging Iran to immediately comply with Security Council resolution number (2817) of the year 2026, as a necessary step to stop the violations and preserve the stability of the region and prevent further deterioration.
Gulf Unity and Cohesion
The statement concluded by affirming the unity of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and their full solidarity in facing any threat to their security and interests, renewing their firm commitment to joint action to enhance the stability of the region and achieve peace for its peoples.
