US Military Irans ability to threaten the Strait of Hormuz has diminished

Khaberni - The US military confirmed on Saturday that Iran's ability to threaten the Strait of Hormuz "has diminished" due to the bombing of an underground facility this week where Iran had stored cruise missiles and other types of weapons.

Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the US Central Command in the Middle East, said in a video posted on the X platform, "We not only destroyed the facility, but we also eliminated intelligence support sites and missile-targeting radar devices that were being used to monitor ship movements."

The US Central Command announced on Tuesday that the bombing, which was carried out on the Iranian coast using special bunker-buster bombs weighing over two tons and designed to penetrate underground targets.

Admiral Cooper explained that "the Iranian regime used this fortified underground facility to secretly store anti-ship cruise missiles, along with mobile missile launchers and other equipment that posed a serious threat to international navigation."

Cooper added, "Iran's ability to threaten the freedom of navigation in and around the Strait of Hormuz has diminished as a result of this bombing, and we will not stop pursuing these targets."

On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced for the first time that Washington is considering a "reduction" which he described as "gradual" in its military operations in the Middle East "against the Iranian regime..." hours after ruling out reaching a ceasefire with Iran.

Iran's actual closure of the Strait of Hormuz, in response to attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Tehran since February 28, has led to a serious crisis for international trade, especially the oil trade, causing a spike in prices around the world.

In the video posted by Admiral Cooper three weeks exactly after the outbreak of the war, he noted that the US military hit eight thousand Iranian targets, including 130 Iranian ships, "which constitutes the largest attack on a naval force since World War II".
