Sandstorm Forces Russian Tourists to Leave Egyptian Beaches

Khaberni - The Russian channel "SHOT", citing tourists, reported that Russians are evacuating Egypt's beaches due to a sandstorm considered the strongest in several years in the country.

Video clips, captured by eyewitnesses, showed buildings hidden behind a thick yellow fog, beaches devoid of holidaymakers, as the sky turned yellow, and palm trees shook from the fierce winds.

According to "SHOT", Russian tourists fled the beaches and surrounding pool areas in Hurghada and other nearby resorts because of this natural phenomenon. All tourist trips were canceled, holidaymakers were asked to stay in their rooms, and a swimming ban at sea was announced.

Meteorologists expect the storm to continue for about a week, while tourists are currently trying to get refunds for the canceled trips and vacations ruined by the storm.

It is noteworthy that Al Jazeera reported on March 14 that a sandstorm hit the Gaza Strip. The storm exacerbated the worsening humanitarian crisis in the area, increasing the suffering of the displaced Palestinians. It is also noted that the refugees suffer from a severe lack of medications and essential supplies, and they are also now forced to deal with the impacts of the sandstorm.
