For a Noble Goal A British Soldier Pulls a 15 Ton Car for 100 Kilometers NonStop

Khaberni - The former British soldier, Darren Hardy, began his first steps in an exceptional challenge aimed at traversing 100 kilometers while pulling a classic "Land Rover" car weighing one and a half tons, using a belt connected to a strong rope.

Hardy aims to cross the "Blackbushe" airport runway, located southwest of London, back and forth for 100 continuous hours.

The goal of this challenge is not only to set a new world record for vehicle pulling but also aims to raise awareness and collect donations to support those suffering from the rare and severe brain condition (H-ABC).

Estimates suggest that this physical effort will cost him about 50,000 calories burnt, consumption of 50 liters of water, in addition to wearing out three pairs of sports shoes and large amounts of essential energy supplements.

Beyond the muscular effort, the mental challenge appears as the toughest obstacle for Hardy, facing the monotony of the path and severe deprivation of sleep, as he will rely only on short naps that do not exceed 20 minutes.

In a statement to "Reuters," Hardy described the experience saying: "This is true suffering; the place is desolate and the darkness will make it more difficult, but part of me thrives in such harsh environments where I test the limits of my body and mind."

The current challenge aims to raise 100,000 British Pounds (equivalent to 133,000 US Dollars) to be added to the 120,000 Pounds previously raised for the benefit of the (H-ABC) foundation, adding: "I just want to see how far I can go.. It’s completely incredible."

It should be noted that Hardy, who left military service in 2017 due to post-traumatic stress disorder after serving in Iraq, has been used to undertaking what he describes as "crazy" challenges that help him overcome his crisis, including running five marathons within 50 hours, and pulling a "BMW" car over a distance of 47 kilometers.
