A New Shock for the Senegal Team Manes Award Might Go to Diaz

Khaberni  - The Confederation of African Football "CAF" is preparing a new shock for the Senegal team following the withdrawal of the 2025 African Nations Cup title after a decision by the CAF Appeals Committee.

The Senegal team was crowned African Nations Cup champions on January 18th after their 1-0 victory over the Morocco team in the final held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

The final was marred by chaos after the Senegal team players retreated to the locker room following a late penalty awarded to the Morocco team.

Sadio Mane, star of the Senegal team, intervened to bring his teammates back onto the field to complete the match.

Afterwards, Ibrahim Diaz, star of the Moroccan team, missed a penalty for the Atlas Lions, extending the match into extra time where the Senegal team scored the winning goal.

The Moroccan Football Federation filed an official complaint with the CAF Disciplinary Committee against the actions of the Senegal team players.

The Disciplinary Committee penalized the Senegalese Federation with a fine but rejected changing the match outcome before the Appeals Committee issued a decision to withdraw the title from the Senegal team, deeming them defeated by a score of 0-3.

Mane Required to Return the Awards!

According to a report published by Africa foot, the Confederation of African Football is re-evaluating the individual awards, notably the Best Player Award won by Sadio Mane, star of the Senegal team.

It indicated that CAF is in the process of asking Mane to return the award, especially after the Morocco team won the continental title.

The decision of the Appeals Committee may reconsider the Best African Player award and it might be granted to the Moroccan Ibrahim Diaz, who performed exceptionally in the tournament.
