Khaberni - Qatar's Energy Minister, Saad bin Sharida Al Kaabi, announced on Thursday that rocket attacks on facilities have reduced the capacity to export liquefied natural gas by 17%, causing annual losses estimated at about 20 billion dollars.
Al Kaabi stated in a press release that repairing the damage to the liquefied natural gas facilities would take between 3 to 5 years, which will impact major markets including China, South Korea, Italy, and Belgium.
He explained that in light of these developments, Qatar will be forced to declare a force majeure for up to 5 years in some long-term liquefied natural gas contracts.
