Jordanian Meteorology Current Rainfall Contributes to Increasing the Rainy Season by up to 38

Khaberni  - The Director of the Meteorological Administration, Raed Rafed Al-Khatab, stated that the recent weather condition that affected Jordan starting from Wednesday contributed to the increase in the current rainy season 2025/2026, with percentages ranging between (1% – 38%) of the general seasonal average, until 9 AM on Thursday.

Al-Khatab explained that initially, Jordan was affected by a state of atmospheric instability, where clouds gradually accumulated and the skies turned cloudy. Rainfall began in the southern regions and extended towards the central areas, being occasionally heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, leading to the formation of floods in some regions.

He added that the weather activity increased during the dawn hours of Thursday as a result of the Kingdom being affected by a relatively cold air mass accompanying a low-pressure system centered over the island of Cyprus. Most regions of the Kingdom experienced rainfall, which was heavy at times, particularly in the central eastern regions and parts of the south. This was accompanied by active westerly winds and occasionally strong gusts, which stirred up dust in the desert areas.

Al-Khatab mentioned that the highest rainfall total was recorded at Queen Alia International Airport weather station at (38.5) mm, followed by Wadi Al-Dulayl station (36.5) mm, then Ghbawi (33.7) mm, and Zarqa (32.0) mm, while Amman Civil Airport recorded (30.9) mm, Mafraq (30) mm, and Al-Rabba station in Karak (27.2) mm.

He confirmed that these values are preliminary and recorded until this morning, and they are expected to rise in the coming hours and days with the continued effect of the weather condition.

Al-Khatab noted that these rains restore hope after a relative pause in precipitation during the month of February and the first third of March, given their positive impact in improving the rainy season. They also contribute to the revitalization of pastures and raise the hopes of livestock breeders for its continuity for a longer period.

He emphasized the importance of keeping up with the weather updates issued by the Meteorological Administration continuously, given the ongoing weather fluctuations during the upcoming period.
