Khaberni - Joe Kent, former director of the U.S. National Center for Counterterrorism, considered that "lone wolves" with extremist orientations represent a real threat to the country's security.
Kent said in an interview with conservative American journalist Tucker Carlson: "The real threat – and most major terrorist organizations have actually shifted to this model – comes from lone wolf terrorists."
Kent expressed his conviction that the United States will witness an increasing polarization with more individuals likely to carry out terrorist attacks.
At the same time, the former American official rejected the idea of potential attacks in the country by "sleeper cells" organized by Iran, saying: "The concept of 'sleeper cells' itself – or cell operation as an entity – has become difficult under current conditions, because these cells have to maintain communication among themselves, and we have been quite successful in detecting such activities."
Kent urged American authorities to focus their efforts on identifying every individual who should not be present on American soil, and to deport them as quickly as possible.
It is worth mentioning that Kent announced on Tuesday, in a statement he released, his departure from his position due to his opposition to the American military operation against Iran, considering that the American leadership fell victim to a misinformation campaign aimed at pushing the United States into a conflict with Iran that did not pose a threat to the United States, under pressure from Tel Aviv.
