Riyadh Meeting with Jordans Participation Iranian Aggressions Cannot Be Justified

Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi participated last Wednesday evening in a consultative ministerial meeting hosted by Saudi Arabia to discuss the Iranian aggressions against several countries in the region.

The meeting, convened at the invitation of the Saudi Foreign Minister, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, included the participation of Foreign Ministers from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Turkey, the Syrian Arab Republic, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the Lebanese Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Minister of State from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

During the meeting, Safadi reiterated Jordan's absolute solidarity with the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Islamic states that are facing Iranian aggressions, which Jordan condemns as unjustified aggressions representing a flagrant violation of international law and the sovereignty of states.

Safadi affirmed the Kingdom's support for all measures these countries take to protect their security, stability, sovereignty, and the safety of their citizens.

Safadi appreciated the solidarity of the brethren with Jordan in facing the Iranian aggressions.

The following statement was issued from the meeting:

Foreign Ministers from: (the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Kuwait, the Lebanese Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates) held a consultative ministerial meeting on Wednesday, 29 Ramadan 1447 AH corresponding to March 18, 2026, in Riyadh, regarding the Iranian aggressions.

The meeting discussed the Iranian aggressions against the Gulf Cooperation Council states, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Turkey, condemning and denouncing the deliberate Iranian aggressions involving ballistic missiles and drones targeting residential areas, civil infrastructure including oil facilities, desalination stations, airports, residential buildings, and diplomatic premises.

The attendees affirmed that these aggressions cannot be justified under any pretext and by any means.

The attendees also affirmed the right of states to defend themselves in accordance with Article (51) of the United Nations Charter.

The attendees demanded Iran to immediately cease its aggressions, respect international law and international humanitarian law and the principles of good neighborliness, as a first step towards de-escalation and achieving security and stability in the region, and to enable diplomacy as a means to resolve crises.

They confirmed that the future of relations with Iran depends on respecting the sovereignty of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, non-aggression on their sovereignty and territories in any form, and not using its military capabilities and development to threaten the countries of the region.

The attendees emphasized the need for Iran to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), to cease all attacks immediately, refrain from any provocative acts or threats directed at neighboring states, and stop supporting, funding, and arming militias affiliated with it in Arab countries serving its purposes and against the interests of these states, refrain from any actions or threats aimed at closing or obstructing international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz or threatening maritime security in Bab al-Mandab.

The attendees reaffirmed their support for the security, stability, and territorial unity of Lebanon, activation of the Lebanese state's sovereignty over its entire territory, and support for the Lebanese government's decision to limit arms to the state. They also condemned Israel's aggression against Lebanon and its expansionist policies in the region.
The attendees renewed their commitment to continue intensive consultation and coordination in this regard, to follow up on developments and evaluate updates to ensure the formulation of joint positions and take necessary legitimate measures and actions to protect their security, stability, sovereignty, and to halt the sinful Iranian aggressions on their territories.

Safadi held bilateral talks with his counterparts participating in the meeting.
