Khaberni - The director of the Al-Omari border center, Colonel Essam Maatouq, clarified that the center handled more than 10,000 travelers, both arrivals and departures, on Wednesday morning, indicating that the number of travelers has increased since the beginning of the year due to regional conditions, performance of Umrah rituals, the return of expatriates, and school holidays.
Maatouq mentioned that the current period is considered one of the peak seasons for the arrival and departure of travelers through "Al-Omari borders," pointing out that the regional conditions have contributed to an increase in travel movement through the center from neighboring countries and nationals of Arab states, which required an increase in capacity.
He confirmed that the number of staff at the center has been increased, as well as the workforce of the Customs Department on the inspection pathways. Coordination with the General Union of Insurance Companies has also been made to double the number of employees to facilitate procedures.
Maatouq explained that the number of arrivals and departures through the Al-Omari border center exceeded 4 million travelers last year, expecting the movement to continue to increase as Eid al-Fitr approaches.
