Indonesia Suspends Deployment of Its Forces in Gaza Due to War in the Middle East

Khaberni - The spokesperson for the Indonesian presidency, Prasetyo Hadi, announced that his country has decided to suspend the deployment of its forces in Gaza due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.

Hadi explained in a statement to reporters in the capital, Jakarta, on Wednesday, that all the plans related to sending forces to Gaza "are now on hold," according to the Indonesian news agency "Antara".

Indonesia had previously announced that about 8,000 soldiers would be ready for deployment by the end of June, as part of the "International Stabilization Force" established in the context of the Gaza plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.

On January 16, the White House announced the adoption of transitional management structures in Gaza, which include the "Peace Council", "Gaza Executive Council", "National Committee for Gaza Management", and "International Stabilization Force".

The International Stabilization Force will take the lead in security operations in Gaza, disarming, and securing the delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials to the sector.

This step falls within the second phase of Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza, which consists of 20 clauses and is supported by United Nations Security Council Resolution number 2803, issued on November 17, 2025.

A ceasefire agreement came into effect on October 11, 2025, after a two-year genocidal war, which resulted in more than 72,000 martyrs and over 171,000 wounded Palestinians, in addition to extensive destruction that affected about 90% of the civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about 70 billion dollars.
