Minister of Environment Launch of 165 cleanup campaigns targeting parks and public places

Khaberni - The Cabinet was briefed in its session held on Tuesday, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, on the progress of work in the executive program for the cleanliness strategy and the reduction of random waste disposal for the year 2026.

The Minister of Environment, Ayman Sulaiman, presented the highlights of what has been accomplished within the executive program since the beginning of this year, where 165 clean-up campaigns were launched targeting parks and public places not covered by municipal services, involving about 15,000 young men and women from universities, schools, employees, citizens, and others, and in coordination with many governmental, official, and civil society institutions, which contributed in collecting more than 90 tons of waste.

He revealed the distribution of about 30,000 reusable bags in vehicles for waste collection, in areas including Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Petra, Ma'an, Ajloun, Madaba, and Aqaba, as well as the distribution of thousands of metal and plastic containers, and other containers designated for waste sorting in several schools, in addition to installing metal baskets on some vital roads, among other activities that were implemented.

He pointed out that one day per week has been allocated for each municipality to carry out clean-up campaigns with community participation throughout the program's implementation period, in addition to preparing a plan for the Eid al-Fitr period targeting tourist places and picnic sites frequented by citizens during the holiday season.

He noted the ongoing monitoring of violations in accordance with governing laws and legislation, from the Traffic Management and the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection, alongside continuing to receive complaints through the hotline and the specialized electronic system for reporting any violations in this regard.
