Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Al-Qudah said on Tuesday that the ministry had taken a decision since last November to ban the export of basic food commodities except with its approval, in order to preserve the stock.
During a meeting of the parliamentary committee on economy and investment, Al-Qudah pointed out that the government decided not to subject the goods to any increase in taxes or customs due to changes in transportation fees and supply routes.
He affirmed that the current wheat stock is sufficient for five and a half months, with additional quantities to last another four months, which have been contracted and are on their way to the kingdom. Meanwhile, the current stock of feed will suffice for the next eight months.
