Khaberni - An audio leak obtained by the British newspaper Telegraph reveals that the new Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, miraculously survived US and Israeli air strikes targeting his father's complex, Ali Khamenei, after he stepped out into the garden of his home in the final minutes before the missiles arrived.
The leak indicates that the raid, which occurred on February 28 at 9:32 AM local time in Iran, targeted Mojtaba Khamenei himself as part of an attack that killed his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and a number of senior Iranian officials, but Mojtaba had stepped out to do something just moments before the arrival of the Israeli missiles, saving him from direct death.
What happened after the air strike?
According to Mazaher Hosseini, head of protocol at Ali Khamenei's office, the strike resulted in the deaths of Mojtaba's wife, his son, and his brother, as well as Mohammad Shirazi, head of Khamenei's military office, and only a few parts of Shirazi's body remained for identification. Mojtaba himself sustained only a minor leg injury.
The complex where the attack occurred housed Mojtaba's home, a lecture hall, and the homes of Ali Khamenei's other children. It appears that the attack was designed to target the entire family, as three missiles struck multiple locations simultaneously.
Since the strike, none of Ali Khamenei's other children have appeared publicly, nor have they issued any messages of support or allegiance to Mojtaba after he assumed office.
Appearance without voice or picture
Mojtaba first appeared with a written message on official television, raising questions about his health and his ability to lead the country, including doubts from US President Donald Trump about the possibility of him being more seriously injured than Iran admits.
The leak also revealed that the attack also targeted succession planning, as Mohammad Shirazi was an important link between the Iranian military leadership and the Supreme Leader. Hosseini confirmed that the strike aimed to prevent any replacement of the leaders killed, and to pave the way for interference from outsiders and infiltrators.
The strike raises widespread controversy about the future of Iranian leadership, especially after US intelligence assessments showed that Ali Khamenei was hesitant about his son taking over the leadership, considering him not smart enough and unqualified to be a leader, with rumors of problems in his personal life.
