Saudi Arabia to Sight the Moon Crescent on Wednesday to Determine the Date of Eid alFitr

Khaberni - Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, will sight the crescent moon of Shawwal to determine the date of Eid al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH, as announced by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court, in a statement, invited all Muslims throughout the kingdom to look for the crescent moon on the evening of the 29th of Ramadan, corresponding to March 18, 2026, according to the Saudi calendar.

The Court explained that this invitation is based on its decision number (204/A) dated the 29th of Sha'ban 1447 AH, which stated that Wednesday, the 1st of Ramadan 1447 AH, corresponding to February 18, 2026, is the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan.

The Court urged those who can see the crescent moon with the naked eye or using telescopes to report to the nearest court and register their sighting, or to communicate with the nearest center to assist them in reaching it.

It also invited those capable of sighting to join the committees formed in various regions for this purpose, emphasizing the importance of participation, which fosters cooperation in righteousness and piety and serves the interests of all Muslims.
