Khaberni - Primal Supplements Group LLC, based in New Mexico, has announced an urgent recall of its dietary supplement Primal Herbs Volume, designed to enhance sexual desire in males.
This comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered it contains "sildenafil", the active substance in Viagra and Revatio, which was not listed on the label.
The recall includes all orders placed between July 2 and September 19, 2025, through the company's website. The products were packaged in 8.5 ounce (240 ml) round containers with green labels. The exact number of orders has not yet been determined, but the company indicates that the product "is trusted by more than 50,000 men".
The supplement is supposed to naturally enhance sexual desire and help treat erectile dysfunction, but its containment of Viagra is a violation, as this substance is available by prescription only and requires use under medical supervision.
The FDA warned that undisclosed "sildenafil" may interact with nitrate medications, used to treat high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. Nitrates dilate blood vessels to reduce the workload on the heart, while sildenafil with nitrates can cause "blood pressure to drop to dangerous levels".
FDA officials said: "Anyone who has used the product within the specified period should stop using it immediately." Meanwhile, Primal Supplements stated: "We are conducting this recall voluntarily and are treating the matter seriously. We apologize for any inconvenience this recall may cause our customers, and we remain committed to ensuring the quality and safety of our products."
It should be noted that Primal Herbs Volume is a liquid supplement containing a mix of herbs and natural ingredients, including maca, ginseng (Siberian, American, and red), bee pollen, oats, ginger, blackberry molasses, carob, flower honey, glucose syrup, and more, along with aromatic flavors and royal jelly.
No side effects were mentioned on the label or the company's website, with an emphasis on consulting a doctor before use if there is a medical condition or other medications are being taken.
