The Reassured King
Author: الدكتور يوسف عبيدالله خريسات

"And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression."
Politics proceeds calmly in usual times, but in exceptional moments, the true natures of men are revealed, the truth of stances is exposed, and the voice of Arab nationalism elevates when it finds those who genuinely and responsibly bear it. In such moments, King Abdullah II steps forward, an Arab heart that feels the pain of his people and is keen on ensuring the reassurance of his brethren.
Thus, the Reassured King is not one who only reassures his own country but one who makes reassurance a mission between him and his Arab brothers. When he communicates with the leaders of Arab countries in times of worry and turmoil, this communication becomes an expression of a deep feeling of shared Arab responsibility and a realization that the nation in times of hardship needs a voice and stances that unify.
From these meanings, Jordan's policy under the leadership of King Abdullah II is evident; Jordan is always present in action and word from Lebanon as it faced crises to the Gaza Strip where human suffering intensifies. Jordanian aid arrives carrying medicine, food, and the message together.
This Jordanian role is an extension of its political and moral history, a history that sees in Jordan a part of a single Arab body, where if one member suffers, the rest of the body responds with care and assistance.
Arab poetry has expressed this concept when the poet said:
Arab lands are my homelands from Damascus to Baghdad,
From Najd to Yemen, to Egypt, and Tetouan.
In times of turmoil, a stance becomes a responsibility, and in the Jordanian stance, a clear truth is embodied that the leadership believes in its people and that it is a support for its brothers, and the king is the voice of Arab reassurance in times of worry. Jordan remains a pure Arab artery, carrying the sincere pulse of Arabism.
