Jordan Two deputies demand to include Thursday March 19 as part of the Eid alFitr holiday

Khaberni - Deputies Hassan Salah al-Riyati and Lubna al-Namour asked the government to reconsider the duration of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, including Thursday, March 19, 2026 as an official holiday.

This was stated in a letter directed to Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, who indicated that citizens had observed issues after the government announced the holiday period starting Friday morning and ending Monday evening, considering that the short duration of the holiday does not allow many citizens to spend the occasion appropriately with their families.

The deputies clarified that the holiday represents an important religious and social occasion for strengthening family bonds and communication, noting that including Thursday in the holiday would help citizens travel between provinces and visit their relatives, and spend the holiday in a comfortable atmosphere.

They also pointed out that many employees work in the capital or in provinces far from their homes, which requires providing sufficient time for them to return to their families during this occasion.

The deputies requested that the holiday be connected with the weekend, allowing citizens enough time to travel and celebrate the occasion with their families.
