Khaberni - Abdelsalam Al-Zyoude, a representative of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, said the commission has set up an emergency plan to address the challenges that may face the Kingdom due to the war in the region, indicating that the plan was approved by the Council of Ministers.

He pointed to a sufficient stock of petroleum products and gas, reassuring the committee with the presence of ships coming to the Kingdom loaded with petroleum products and gas.

The Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, chaired by the MP Ayman Abuhaniyeh, discussed on Sunday the readiness of the energy sector in Jordan and the regional events' impact on the electrical system and the industrial sector.

Abuhaniyeh said that there are significant challenges facing the factories and companies due to the crises in the region, affirming that the industrial sector is a main supporter of the kingdom's budget and a significant driver of the national economy.

During the meeting, which was attended by Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission representative Abdelsalam Al-Zyoude, Jordan Chamber of Industry member Eyad Abu Haltam, and various stakeholders, he mentioned that complaints had come to the committee regarding gas outages at some factories, which affects the continuity of production.

In their turn, the deputies Abd Al-Basit Al-Kabariti, Jamal Qamouh, Mai Al-Harahsheh, Rakin Abuhaniyeh, Iman Al-Abbasi, and Nasim Al-Abadi, called for a clear strategic plan to deal with current challenges and to enhance the direction towards using renewable energy in the industrial sector.

Eyad Abu Haltam confirmed the slowness in the procedures for granting licenses to factories for using renewable energy, demanding an acceleration of these procedures to help reduce the energy costs on the industrial sector and enhance its competitiveness.
