The Hormuz Predicament How Did Iran Turn the Strait into a Trap for Washington

Khaberni - The British "Daily Mail" stated that the United States faces severe economic and military repercussions due to its military operation against Iran, which turned the Strait of Hormuz into a strong pressure card against the Americans.

Adding to its comments on President Donald Trump, the newspaper said: "It has become clear that he made a grave miscalculation by attacking Iran. Two days after the launch of the 'Epic Rage' operation on February 28, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has now turned into a pressure card".

It pointed out that following this decision, crude oil prices jumped to over $100 per barrel, marking an increase of $27 compared to before the onset of the strikes.

The newspaper described the American decision to attack Iran as a "grave miscalculation", noting that regaining control of the Strait of Hormuz will not be achieved without deploying ground troops, a choice that the American administration seems unprepared to make at present.

Tehran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for oil and liquefied gas supplies from the Gulf region to global markets, two days after Washington launched the 'Epic Rage' operation on February 28 last year.

The Supreme Leader of Iran, Majdoub Khamenei, confirmed that the strait would remain closed, declaring its use as a strategic pressure card against Washington and Tel Aviv.
