Khaberni -   Today, Sunday, at the ministry's headquarters, the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Azmi Governor, with the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Senator Khalil Hajj Tawfiq, discussed ways to coordinate and cooperate jointly to launch the Italian government-funded scholarship and training program, which is dedicated to qualifying and training Jordanian youth in several specialized professional sectors.
The meeting is part of the follow-up on the implementation of the cooperation agreement that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce signed with the Arab-Italian Joint Chamber of Commerce on the sidelines of the Jordanian-Italian Business Forum held in Amman last February. The agreement aims to open advanced vocational training and education pathways for Jordanian youth, through programs that combine academic education with practical training inside European factories and companies.
Dr. Governor emphasized the importance of enhancing partnerships between educational institutions and the private sector, which contributes to aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs, noting the ministry's commitment to supporting quality initiatives that provide training and qualification opportunities for Jordanian youth in modern specialized fields, enabling them to acquire practical experiences according to European standards.
He added that the ministry is ready to cooperate and coordinate with the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and relevant entities to ensure the success of the program and achieve its objectives, which will enhance employment opportunities for Jordanian youth and supply the national economy with qualified talents possessing the skills required in the regional and international markets.
On his part, Hajj Tawfiq confirmed that the meeting is part of translating the cooperation agreement with the Arab-Italian Joint Chamber of Commerce into practical execution steps, noting that the program targets Jordanian graduates up to 35 years old, and provides full scholarships that include tuition, travel tickets, visa, accommodation, in addition to a monthly stipend for the students.
He explained that the program initially focuses on disciplines such as fashion design, gold and diamond manufacture and design, and will include other fields such as logistics, food industries, graphic design, automotive maintenance and any specialty required by the Jordanian market in future phases, stating that the duration of the program extends for a full year combining intensive theoretical study and practical training inside European factories and companies where the student obtains a certificate recognized in all European Union countries.
Hajj Tawfiq indicated that the next step would involve coordinating with the Department of Missions in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and relevant entities to develop a clear work mechanism and an execution plan for launching the program, including announcing the scholarship, receiving applications, sorting applicants according to established criteria, selecting beneficiaries, and completing the procedures for their enrollment in the program in cooperation with the Italian side, to ensure that the educational and professional goals desired are achieved.
