Khaberni - The Fountain Mall, owned by the Jordanian Free Markets Company, received an international honor after obtaining the EDGE-Advanced certificate in green building, a global certificate awarded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, to buildings that achieve advanced levels of efficiency in energy, water, and building materials usage.
The honoring took place during an event organized by the Jordan Green Building Council in Amman, attended by Dr. Ayman Sulaiman, Minister of Environment, and a number of specialists in the environmental and construction sectors, in recognition of the advanced standards adopted by the project in its design and implementation. Notably, the EDGE certificate is considered one of the most prominent sustainable building certifications globally, and is awarded to projects that achieve tangible measures in utilizing natural resources in a way that aims to reduce the environmental impact of buildings and enhance the efficiency of the construction sector.
Through its achievement of the EDGE-Advanced rating, Fountain Mall has become the first commercial complex in Jordan and the first building in the city of Aqaba to receive this advanced level of international accreditation in green building. The project relied on a set of engineering and technical solutions targeting the improvement of resource efficiency, including advanced systems for energy conservation and lighting efficiency, techniques to reduce water consumption, and the use of building materials that comply with modern environmental standards.
