Khaberni - Under the sponsorship of the President of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, the University's Dean of Student Affairs organized a ceremony to honor the winners of the eighth Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani Memorial Prize for the Recitation and Mastery of the Holy Quran for students of Jordanian universities, held at Al-Hourani Auditorium on Thursday, March 12, 2026, attended by numerous academics, students, and representatives from the participating universities.
This award, named after the university’s late founder, Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani, embodies the university's mission to support religious and humanitarian values, enhance the university youth's connection to the Holy Quran, and encourage students to master the recitation and rules of the Holy Quran in a competitive atmosphere that reflects a spirit of commitment and excellence among students of Jordanian universities.
During the event, His Excellency the University President, in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Mustafa Al-Atiyat, honored the judging panel members in appreciation of their efforts in making the award ceremony successful. The panel included Professor Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Kurdi, the general supervisor of the award, Dr. Asma Al-Amri, and instructor Mohammad Haboob from Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and Dr. Amal Al-Naimat from Jordan University.
The student competition results announced the victory of student Mazen Ouda Allah Al-Hadidi from Jordan University in first place, receiving a cash prize of 500 dinars. Student Mohammad Fayyad bin Fawzi from the World Islamic Sciences University claimed the second place with 350 dinars, and student Yusuf Ali from Jerash University secured the third place with 200 dinars.
In the female students’ competition, student Mariam Abdul Karim Aslimeh from Amman Arab University won first place with a cash prize of 500 dinars, followed by student Fatima Ayman Hussein from World Islamic Sciences University in second place with 350 dinars, and student Tulin Mahmoud Al-Nakhateen from Jordan University in third place with 200 dinars.
The eighth edition of the award saw the participation of 18 Jordanian public and private universities, including: Jordan University, Al-Balqa Applied University, Al al-Bayt University, Middle East University, Philadelphia University, Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, Jadara University, Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, Petra University, Zarqa University, Al-Hussein Technical University, Jerash University, Ajloun National University, World Islamic Sciences University, Tafila Technical University, Irbid Private University, and Amman Arab University, in participation that reflects the increasing interest among university students in memorizing and mastering the recitation of the Holy Quran.
The university affirmed that this award continues to entrench its status as one of the distinctive cultural and religious initiatives at the level of Jordanian universities, due to its role in highlighting the creative youth energies in the recitation of the Holy Quran, and promoting faith values within the university community.
