Jordan Atmospheric depression Sunday and warnings of floods and active winds

Khaberni - The kingdom is experiencing a state of weather instability on Saturday, accompanied by varying intensities of rain and active winds, before being affected by a cold and humid air mass accompanying an atmospheric depression on Sunday, according to the Meteorological Administration.

The director of the Meteorological Administration, Raed Al-Khattab, said that the Kingdom remains on Saturday under the effect of weather instability, and the weather will be relatively cold and partly cloudy to cloudy, with intermittent showers of rain from time to time in various areas, which are expected to be heavy at times in the north, center, and east of the Kingdom, and may be accompanied by thunder and hail.

He added that the winds will be southwesterly active, accompanied by strong gusts sometimes reaching speeds of about 50 kilometers per hour in some areas, which leads to stirring up dust, especially in the desert areas, while the weather continues to be cold and partly cloudy to cloudy at night, with the continuation of the chance of rain showers, especially in the northern and central regions.

He noted that the weather in the Gulf of Aqaba will be relatively warm and partly cloudy during the day, with the possibility of local rain showers, and the winds are moderate southerly, sometimes active, and the sea has moderate wave height, while at night it becomes relatively cold with light north winds and the sea has light wave height.

Al Khattab warned of the danger of floods forming in valleys and low-lying areas in the north and center of the Kingdom and parts of the eastern regions, in addition to the danger of thunderstorms and hail, the intensity of wind speed especially in the south of the Kingdom, and the decline in horizontal visibility; due to dust in desert areas that do not experience rainfall.

He explained that the Kingdom will be affected tomorrow, Sunday, by a cold and humid air mass accompanying an atmospheric depression, where a noticeable drop in temperatures will occur, and the weather will be cold and partly cloudy to cloudy, with rain in the north, center of the Kingdom and parts of the southwestern and northeastern regions, which may be heavy for a short period in the morning in the northern and central regions, and the winds are westerly active with strong gusts sometimes.

He pointed out that the weather at night will be cold and partly cloudy, with the continuation of the chance for light and scattered rain showers in limited parts of the north and center of the Kingdom, before the chances of rain gradually weaken, with very cold conditions in most areas.

He warned of the danger of reduced horizontal visibility; due to fog and low clouds touching the ground in mountainous elevations and parts of the plains, in addition to dust in desert areas, urging caution from slipping on roads that experience rainfall.

He clarified that the temperatures tend to rise slightly on Monday, where the weather will be cold in the high mountainous elevations, deserts, and plains, with the possibility of light rain showers in the morning hours, whereas at night, the conditions will be very cold in most regions, while the following Tuesday will see a noticeable rise in temperatures, with nice and sunny weather prevailing across the Kingdom.

And Al Khattab called on citizens to follow the weather bulletins issued by the Meteorological Administration through its website and various media outlets, to be informed of the latest updates and details related to the expected weather condition.
