Jordan Former Minister Muthanna Gharaibeh Donates Organs of His Deceased Son

Khaberni - Written by: Mohammad Abdul Hamid Al-Qudah

"We want to donate Karam's organs".. This was the sentence Muthanna told me when informing me of his son Karam's death on the morning it happened.

I didn't know what to answer him, but he insisted and managed to donate Karam’s corneas which will allow Karam to help someone see the remaining light in this life for many years to come.

Organ donation after death is an issue we have discussed extensively over many years, and although we in Jordan have all the necessary medical infrastructure and specialized human resources, and have thousands eager to register their names for organ donation upon death, we have not yet succeeded in managing this file at the national level.

This file must be a top national priority, and there will not be high financial costs but rather savings in the long term, financially and reducing the hardships for those with chronic diseases.

As a first step, I hope that an option can be added in the Sanad app that allows those who want to donate their organs after death to register their name on the Sanad app, and we will have hundreds of thousands eager for their organs to be a continuous charity if death overtakes them.

We can make one person’s death a life for many others, and I hope that the government will prioritize this matter.
