Revolutionary Guards Talks About the Withdrawal of the Aircraft Carrier Lincoln

Khaberni -   The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said, in a late hour on Friday night, that it targeted the American aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" with missiles and drones, causing significant damage.

The Revolutionary Guards added that the American carrier "is now withdrawing towards America" after being targeted.

On his part, a spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command told Al Jazeera that "the Revolutionary Guards' claims of targeting the Lincoln aircraft carrier are false."

He added that the aircraft carrier continues its mission in the region in support of the ongoing campaign against Iran.

Meanwhile, CBS News reported that an Iranian ship approached the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier last week, and that U.S. forces fired upon it.

The Revolutionary Guards had previously announced twice during the current war, targeting this carrier; the first incident occurred on March 2, using four cruise missiles, and at that time, a spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters affiliated with the Guards stated that the carrier fled from its location following the attack.

Four days after that targeting, the carrier was hit by a new strike through drones at a distance of 340 kilometers from the Iranian border, according to the Revolutionary Guards.

Recent satellite images taken of the region showed the location of the aircraft carrier concurrently with the ongoing American-Israeli airstrikes against Iran.

Geographic analysis, conducted by the Open Source Unit at the Al Jazeera network of the images taken last Saturday by the "Sentinel-2" satellite, revealed that the carrier is located in the Arabian Sea, about 100 nautical miles (equivalent to 185 kilometers) off the Omani coasts, and a distance of 173 nautical miles (about 320 kilometers) from the Iranian coasts.

This comes amid escalating attacks on Iran as part of the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war since February 28, and the attacks carried out by Tehran on the Gulf states, Iraq, and Jordan under the pretext of "targeting American bases", with announcements that armed Iraqi factions are also targeting bases inside Iraq.
