Khaberni - A specialized medical team from the Pediatric Surgery Department at Queen Rania Al Abdullah Hospital for Children, led by Colonel Dr. Waseem Al-Mufleh, performed two surgical operations on two girls suffering from hydatid cysts on their lungs, using surgical endoscopy without the need for traditional open surgery, through small incisions in the chest. Colonel Dr. Waseem Al-Mufleh, a consultant in pediatric surgery, said that the use of surgical endoscopy in such cases among children is a qualitative and distinctive development at the level of the pediatric surgery department, as it achieves better therapeutic results and contributes to reducing the recovery period, moving away from traditional surgery and its possible complications, indicating that the Pediatric Surgery Department continually strives to develop the use of endoscopic techniques in various cases to keep up with medical developments in pediatric surgery and pediatric urology regionally and globally.
Colonel Dr. Mohammad Al-Dajah, head of pediatric surgery specialization, pointed out that this achievement is in line with the consecutive achievements accomplished by the Pediatric Surgery Department, thanks to working with a unified team spirit and continuous support from the management of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Hospital for Children and the Royal Medical Services Directorate.
