Khaberni - Khalil Al-Hajj Tawfiq, President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, and several board members discussed, during a meeting with Raed Al-Assaf, the Traffic Management Director, ways to enhance cooperation and coordination to ensure the smooth flow of goods to commercial markets and to organize shopper traffic, in a way that maintains traffic fluidity and serves the economic movement in the capital, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan and the holiday period which sees a noticeable increase in commercial activity and traffic density.
The two parties emphasized the importance of enhancing institutional partnership between the commercial sector and the traffic management to achieve a balance between the requirements of traffic safety and the continuation of economic activity in vital commercial areas, especially with the increase in shopping movement during the blessed month of Ramadan and before Eid al-Fitr.
During the meeting, which was attended by Mohammed Tahboub, the Secretary of the Amman Chamber of Commerce Board, Falah Al-Saghir, a board member, and Sultan Allaan, the Syndicate of Clothing, Shoes and Fabrics Traders, a number of practical proposals aimed at organizing vehicle movement and parking in commercial areas were discussed. These proposals consider the needs of shoppers and contribute to activating the shopping movement without compromising public safety or traffic fluidity.
The meeting also discussed the importance of organizing the times and places for loading and unloading in vital commercial streets, in line with the effective laws and regulations, and to help reduce traffic violations that may result from the operational necessities of some commercial activities, especially during periods that witness high traffic pressure.
Khalil Al-Hajj Tawfiq emphasized the importance of prior coordination and continuous communication between the commercial sector and the traffic management to contribute to finding practical solutions that are applicable to address the field challenges that may arise during the expected peak periods in the coming days.
At the end of the meeting, both parties confirmed the continuation of coordination and cooperation in the upcoming period, which will enhance the partnership between the concerned authorities and the private sector and serve the public interest.
