Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II joined a virtual meeting today, Monday, with leaders from the European Union and regional countries to discuss the escalation in the Middle East.
During the meeting, His Majesty appreciated the support provided by the European Union countries to Jordan and the Arab countries, and their solidarity in facing the escalation, emphasizing the importance of ongoing cooperation and coordination to protect civilians and achieve a comprehensive and sustainable calm.
His Majesty alerted to the danger of expanding the conflict, targeting a group of safe and stable Arab countries, stressing that diplomacy and dialogue are the means to end the serious escalation in the region.
His Majesty emphasized Jordan's continuity in taking all necessary measures to protect its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens, appreciating the efforts of the Iraqi government in working to reduce escalation and contain tensions in the region.
His Majesty also alerted to the developments in Lebanon and the Israeli assaults on Lebanese territories, confirming Jordan's continued support for the Lebanese brethren in their efforts to maintain their security, stability, and sovereignty.
His Majesty warned that in the midst of this regional crisis, Israel seeks to fuel the ongoing conflict and continues its assaults on Gaza and the West Bank during the blessed month of Ramadan.
The meeting was attended by European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar’, Bahrain Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain, and Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Also in attendance were Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar; Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE; Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani; Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan; Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi; Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz; and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
