Khaberni - Today, Monday, the General Assembly of the Lebanese Parliament approved the extension of the Council's mandate for two years and the postponement of the legislative elections scheduled for next May, amid the war between Hezbollah and Israel.
The Lebanese Parliament approved the extension and postponement for two years after 76 deputies consented, 41 opposed, and 4 abstained from voting.
The session was held at the Parliament headquarters in central Beirut, attended by several Hezbollah deputies, including the head of their bloc, Mohammad Raad, while Israeli planes were striking the stronghold of Hezbollah in the southern suburbs, targeting facilities of Al-Qard Al-Hasan Foundation associated with the party.
The Israeli army launched severe airstrikes on the southern suburbs today, Monday, under the pretext of targeting Hezbollah's infrastructure.
Since March 2, the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon has resulted in 394 deaths and 1130 injuries, including hundreds of children and women, according to the Ministry of Health, yesterday, Sunday.
According to data released by Amnesty International, more than 300,000 people have been displaced across Lebanon after less than 100 hours of escalating conflict.
Last Thursday, the Israeli army warned residents of the neighborhoods Burj al-Barajneh, Hadath, Haret Hreik, and Chiyah in the southern suburbs to immediately evacuate their homes.
The scope of the war expanded regionally to include Lebanon, after Israel and the United States began attacks on Iran on February 28, resulting in at least 1332 deaths, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
