Khaberni - The quantities of vegetables received at the central wholesale market of the Greater Amman Municipality, today Monday, amounted to about 1878 tons, while the quantities of fruits reached 457 tons, and leafy greens 231 tons.
According to the central market bulletin, the price of a kilo of tomatoes ranged between 35 and 55 piasters, which is the highest recorded price when leaving the central market.
This comes amid increasing complaints from citizens about rising vegetable prices in the markets, where traders indicate that the price may rise after adding transportation and loading costs and profit margin, which means that the price of a kilo of tomatoes might reach about 70 to 90 piasters for the consumer in some shops.
Prices of other varieties according to the market bulletin ranged between 15 and 25 piasters for black eggplants, 17 to 30 piasters for dry onions, 20 to 35 piasters for potatoes, 40 to 60 piasters for cucumbers, and 45 to 70 piasters for zucchini, while lemons were recorded between 50 and 110 piasters per kilogram.
